DR.APJ. ABDUL KALAM SOCIAL FOREST – AKSF

We, at DR.A.P.J.ABDUL KALAM INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION By House of Kalam Rameswaram, are planning a massive initiative of planting one crore trees. It was started by our late President to inculcate a sense of social responsibility towards the environment. The sole intention is to conserve our resources for the future generations.

Named after The People’s President, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Social Forest, nurseries are planned at 185 places in 37 districts in Tamil Nadu. Each district would own 6 nurseries. Each nursery would be provided with 60000 saplings, which would make a total of 1, 11, 00,000. These saplings would be taken care of and would be given to the School students, College students, Educational institution, Corporate Employees & general public free of cost.

AKSF TREES

India Regularly 5% to global CO2 emissions.

Tree planting is an important element in the solution to tackle climate change - Trees absorb carbon dioxide and are vital carbon sinks. The world's forests store an estimated 300 billion tons of carbon, the equivalent of 40 times the world's annual greenhouse gas emissions (source: Time,Nov,'09). It is also a relatively quicker and cheaper option of reducing emissions than alternatives like switching to low carbon forms of power generation or weaning the world's vehicle fleet off fossil fuels.

With heightened public awareness of global climate change, individuals and companies are determined to be part of the solution. Offsetting your carbon footprint by planting trees is an effective direct method to contribute toward reversing climate change.
