About AKIF

We, at DR.A.P.J.ABDUL KALAM INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION By House of Kalam Rameswaram, Rameswaram, are planning planning a massive massive initiative initiative of planting planting one crore trees. It was started started by our late President to inculcate a sense of social responsibility towards the environment. The sole intention is to conserve our resources for the future generations.

Named after The People’s President, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Social Forest, nurseries are planned at 185 places in 37 districts in Tamil Nadu. Each district would own 6 nurseries. Each nursery would be provided with 60000 saplings, which would make a total of 1, 11, 00,000.

These saplings would be taken care of and would be given to the School students, College students, Educational institution, Corporate Employees & general public free of cost.

The need of the hour is to rescue our planet which is slipping into catastrophe due to global warming. The way forward is to replenish its green cover along with other precautionary measures. Roping in the young crowd along with others to achieve this massive goal will be a new beginning of this beautiful journey towards Dr. Kalam's vision 2020. Each and every institution in all the districts would work in tandem towards achieving the goal of 1 crore tree plantation. The participating students would be given certificates. The school management would receive the honorary certificate and Shield from the House of Kalam Rameswaram. As in normal plantation drives, we do not purchase the saplings, rather we nurture them right from the stage of sowing the seeds. This task would be carried out with the help of school students, students, first year agriculture agriculture students students and farmers farmers.

The recent project which we had initiated is planting of more than one crore tree saplings. The project was inaugurated by His Excellency Shri. Banwarilal Purohit Governor of Tamil nadu on 28th March 2019 in Chennai Vels University .

The plantation drive was started on 27th July 2019 and will go on till the end of Dr. APJ. Abdul Kalam's Vision year of 2020. The same set of all school and college students, corporate’s and government staffs would continue with the drive.

The growth of the tree would be monitored with data and statistical inputs with the help of the AKSF App. Awards and recognition would be through the App as well. The program would give an insight into the environmental aspect of this plantation drive.
